the story
when i was 22, i was really good friends with this boy i slowly developed a crush on. he always wore this little blue shoelace tied around the top of his boot.
one night i started wearing one too because it reminded me of him. eventually, i started to realize i loved him quite deeply, but decided to ignore it, because i knew it would hurt more to live without him than to figure things out.
after a while, that little blue shoelace started to feel like a symbol of him to me... but time has an inevitable way of figuring things out for you. one day i moved to nyc and finally took the shoelace off.
this piece is inspired by his little blue shoelace. i’ll remember it, and him, forever.
